Yesterday afternoon in Montreal, it was a afternoon game between the Canadiens and the Rangers.Going into this game the Rangers were 1 point back of Montreal for 6th place in the Eastern Conference. But the Canadiens weren't planing on dropping to 7th in this game. There was great pressure from both teams in this game. After 1 period there was no score. The shots were 12-10 in favour of Montreal. Then late in the second the Canadiens would get on the board with a Wide shot by Picard which would go right to Gomez who would put in his 7th of the season. The shots in the second were 11-6  in favour of Montreal and they had a lead against the lowest scoring team in the NHL. But in the third, the Rangers would put on the pressure as they had 19 shots in the third but couldn't beat Price.

The Canadiens would get the only goal of the Period. It was an empty net goal by Plekanec to seal the win. They were able to get the win even though the Rangers controlled the third period leading in shots (19-6) and overall shots (35-29).Picard couldn't hit the net and thank god I closed my eyes and kind of threw it at the net," said Gomez of his goal. "Kind of funny because we work on that every practice, I guess we'll have to keep going with that drill." In the Win, Price made 35 saves (19 in the third) for his 5th shuttout of the season and he was the first star. As for the Rangers (who are now 3 points back of the Canadiens), Biron made 27 saves and was the second star in the losing cause.

"The power play, we had four, we had one or two shots and that hurts your offence," said Rangers coach John Tortorella. "Five-on-five I thought we played a good hockey game, we generated chances but we don't score. Our penalty kill was good, our power play was a letdown."
