HABS SIGN JOSH GORGES

A True Player
















                     Yesterday in Montreal, the Canadiens announced that they have signed Josh Gorges to a 1 year contract. The terms were not announced.“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Josh Gorges for the 2011-12 season. He is a very reliable defenseman for our club. Josh is recovering extremely well from his knee injury that kept him out of the line-up for half of the regular season and the playoffs, and we look forward to seeing him at training camp,” said Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier. Gorges had 1 goal and 6 assist in 36 games with the Habs last season before injuring his knee.

JETS LOGO HAS BEEN RELEASED













                Today in Winnipeg, the Jets have released there new logo for the 2011-12 season. They have 3 versions of the logo (as seen above).“True North Sports & Entertainment felt it was important for the new Winnipeg Jets to develop a strong new identity,” said Mark Chipman, Chairman & Governor of True North Sports & Entertainment. “We felt it was important to authenticate the name Jets and we believe the new logo does that through its connection to our country’s remarkable Air Force heritage, including the rich history and relationship that our city and province have enjoyed with the Canadian Forces.”  The Jets will open the season against the Montreal Canadiens.

HABS TRADE FOR BLUNDEN

                  Today in Montreal, the Habs GM Pierre Gauthier traded Ryan Russel to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Michael Blunden. Blunden played 11 games with the Chiacago Blackhawks a few seasons agao before being traded to Columbus. Blunden played 40 games with the Jackets in the 09-10 season and had 4 assist and 59 penalty minutes. Russel on the other hand played,  19 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL) in the 09-10 season and had 7 goals and 5 assist.

                             My sources have told me that the logo you see above may be the new Jets logo. The back page released this photo a few years back and reported that if Winnipeg were to get a team.. That this would be the logo. The post was removed 1 year later. So is it fake or real?                           Today in Montreal, the Canadiens announced that they have signed goalie Nathan Lawson to a 1 year contract. The terms were once again not announced. Lawson played 10 games with the New York Islanders last season and had a record of 1-4-2 record, a 4.06 goals against average and a .893 save percentage. This is the third goalie that the Habs have signed. Which means they will have plenty of choices for who should be backing up Carey Price in the 2011-2012 season.

HABS SIGN BROCK TROTTER TO A 1 YEAR CONTRACT

















                           Today in Montreal, the Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier announced that he had signed Brock Trotter to a 1 year 2 way contract. The terms were not announced. Trotter has played 2 career NHL games with the Habs in the 2009-2010 Season and he had no points and was a minus one. This past season in the KHL, Trotter had 9 goals and 17 assist in  49 games with Riga. Trotter may or may not play in the NHL this season. It is uncertain until we see his play in training camp.

                Yesterday in Montreal, Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier lost the bid war for Jagr, so they went to plan B and signed former cup winner  Eric Cole. He was signed to a 4 year $18 million dollar contract.Cole is expected  to add more offense to the Habs.
