Last night in Edmonton, the Habs failed to get a win against the worst team in the NHL as they lost 4-1 to the Oilers. It all started in the first period, when Hemsky scored to make it 1-0. Later that period Habs defensman Wisinewski took the puck off of his eye he left the game and did not return. But the Canadiens wouldn't give up, As Halpern would score to tie it early in the second. Then 4 minutes into the third, Erberle scored to give the Oilers the lead. Then 10 seconds later Jones would score again to give them a 2 goal lead at 3-1. They would add an empty net goal as the Oilers win 4-1.
"Losing James early in the game when we already had a depleted defence made it difficult," said Habs head coach Jacques Martin. "I thought we competed hard though. If it hadn't have been for a couple of breakdowns in the third, I thought we had a good game. We created chances but their goaltending was strong." The Habs next game will be Sunday against the Flames.
