Last night Washington, the Capitals got off to a good start by opening the game with 2 goals in 8 minutes from Perreault and Knuble. But Montreal didn't give up. As in the second, Kostitsyn and Gionta came in on a 2 on 1 and Gionta slapped it by Varlamov to cut the lead to 1. Then shortly after that, Gionta had a breakaway and scored blocker side to tie the game. The game would go to a shootout. In the shootout, Brian Gionta scored the only goal as the Habs win it 3-2 is your final. Carey Price was great in the win as he made 27 saves."At this time of year, we can't afford to just be good for 20 minutes," Perreault said. "It's got to be 60 minutes. Playoffs are coming up and those are points we need if we want to get a good spot for the playoffs."
In the win, the Canadiens had 38 shots, when in the playoffs last year against the Caps, the Habs avearged only 22 shots per game. So this is a step in the right direction for them as they got the win."Our guys just played solid defensively. In the second period, I don't think they had but about two shots until the five minute mark," Price said. "We did an excellent job of coming back."
