KOIVU MAKES RETURN TO MONTREAL TONIGHT

Tonight in Montreal, former Habs captain Saku Koivu  will return to the Bell Centre this time as a Anaheim Duck. Koivu played in Montreal for 13 seasons, 9 as captain with Montreal. He was the 27th Captain in Habs history and he was the second longest right next to John Beliveau. He had 641 points as a Canadien and he is going to make his return tonight."There was a lot of mixed feelings and emotions involved when I thought about returning here. So many things happened here. I've spent the majority of my adult life here in Montreal, a lot more than in Finland where I'm from," Koivu said.

"It's been kind of emotional. When the schedule came out in late July, obviously I circled that date, when we would be in Montreal. But it felt miles away, at the end of January. I had all this time to prepare myself and get ready. And then last night in Toronto, after the game, it's two nights from now and then I started getting a little nervous and emotional." Saku Koivu was a great Captain of the Canadiens and I think he will get a standing ovation from the Fans tonight.

But there's more talk about number 11 (which is currently being worn by Scott Gomez) being retired in Koivu's honer once he retires. But the standards are high in Montreal when it comes to that. If he had won a stanley cup or at least went to the final it would probably be a guarantee but since he didn't it's unknown if it would ever get retired. If it is retired it would be for more reasons like for example, winning his fight with Cancer or for the raising of $8 million for the purchase of a PET Scan machine. But this will all be sorted out once he retires. For now lets just watch the game.
