Last night in Boston, it was Game 1of the Eastern Conference final between the Boston Bruins and the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning had a simple plan, that plan was to use there speed to catch the Bruins off guard. It was working early. As just 7 minutes in, Lecavalier got a breakaway and Thomas made the save. A few minutes later, Hedman`s shot was stopped and Moore had two hacks at it but Thomas kept it out. But Bergenheim would find it and put it in to make it 1-0. On the next play, Brett Clark had the puck and took it coast to coast and backhanded the puck past Thomas to make it 2-0. Just 30 seconds after that, Kaberle gave the puck away behind his own net (to Purcell) and Purcell would put the puck past Thomas to make it 3-0. That was there 3rd goal in 1 minute 25 seconds that`s a new NHL playoff high for fastest goals.

Just 3 minutes later, Tyler Seguin came right through centre with speed and he dangled his way through the Lightning defense and he scored to cut the lead to 3-1. Seguin`s first NHL playoff goal in his first NHL playoff game on his first shot.  Just 6 minutes into the second, Chara`s long shot was stopped by Roloson and the rebound went right to Ryder and he was stopped by Roloson again. Late in the third, with the Bolts on the powerplay, St.Louis played the puck to Clark, who played it to Bergeron and he took a slap shot and he scored to make it 4-1. Gagne would score an empty net goal with 2:28 to go to make it 5-1. The Bruins would add a late goal from Boychuk to cut the lead to 5-2. But that would be all for the Bruins as they drop game 1.

"Rust was even on both sides as far as the time off so you don't want to use rust as an excuse," Bruins coach Claude Julien said, "but I think the effort was something that we're going to need more of." With the win, the Lightning now find themselves 3 wins away from the Stanley Cup Final."We're not a team that's waiting to win games," Tampa Bay coach Guy Boucher said. "We like to push to win games." Even though the Lightning have the advantage in the series, nothing is won yet. Just look back to Round 1, the Bruins Versus the Canadiens. The Montreal Canadiens took a 2-0 series lead, but went onto lose 3 in a row to go down 3-2. The Bruins would go onto win the series in 7 games. So nothing is won yet. The Lightning will have to go into every game with the mentality that it`s a must win game.

Game 2 of this series will be Tuesday night at 8:00 Pm E.t on TSN, RDS and Versus.
