Habs Organization for Sale?

The rumors about the Habs being moved to another city was quickly denied by owner George Gillett. He bought the Canadiens Organization and the Bell Center for $185 million US in 2001.

"Never, ever, whether in the past or now, have we considered selling or maintained in discussions about selling the team.My office does get inquiries from time to time but since the team is not for sale, there have been no negotiations."Gillett told La Presse.

"The team is not for sale period,"Canadiens spokesperson told TSN. "End of conversation." When asked by TSN to respond to the report, Balsillie's lawyer Rich Rodier said, "absolutely not, it couldn't be farther from the truth, there is nothing to it zero."

Why would the Canadiens sell there Organization short so early if they only played 100 seasons. In my opinion I don't think George Gillett will be selling his Organization any time soon.As a fact the Canadiens have been ranked the 3rd most valuable franchise in the NHL.
