Last night in Montreal, it was the night all Hab fans were waiting for: "The return of : Max Pacioretty." Due to Chara's hit on Pacioretty in March, the stantion/turnbuckle was moved back one and a half feet.  On Paciorettys first shift, he centred the puck from the left side to Gionta who took the puck cross ice and shot it but it was stopped by Ryan Miller. With 4 minutes to go in the first, Ehrhoff  centred the puck to Pominville and he would score to make it 1-0 Buffalo. Just over a minute later, Gionta on the right wing played the puck to Pacioretty in front of the net but he was denied by Miller. So the score was 1-0 Buffalo after one.

Early in the second, Desharnais centred the puck to Pacioretty but Miller with the save.10 minutes later, the Canadiens replaced Budaj (who made 14 saves on 15 shots) and put Mayer in. At the other end, Miller (who made 11 saves) was replaced by Enroth.Late in the second with the Habs on the powerplay, Subban's point shot beat Enroth to tie the game. 7 minutes into the third,  Ehroffs point shot beat Mayer to make it 2-1 Buffalo. Tyler Enis would add an empty net goal as the Sabres go on to take the game by the score of 3-1. In the loss, Mayer made 8 saves on 9 shots. In the win, Enroth made 12 saves on 13 shots.

After the game, all the talk was about Max Pacioretty's return."It's such a good feeling just to be out there again," said Pacioretty, who was given a big cheer when he stepped on the ice for his first shift. "No big hits given or received but the bumps are I think what's really going to make my neck react so we'll see how it feels tomorrow." The Canadiens next Pre-Season game will be Friday against the Senators in Ottawa at 7:30 pm E.T. The game is not being televised, but you can listen to it on CJAD 800.
