CANADIENS DROP FIFTH STRAIGHT LOSS, DUE TO 30 SAVES BY BACKSTROM

Last night in Montreal, Wild goaltender Nickolas Backstrom was on his game stopping 30 of 31 shots to lead to a 3-1 wild win in Latendress's return to Montreal. "Moral victories suck in this business, I'm not going to sugar coat it," said Habs winger Mike Cammalleri. "It's a results-driven business, all our fans and all the people who care so much about this team want to see it win and so do we. When you talk about the process and working towards a goal, they're things that we can look at. But they don't really hold much weight as far as I'm concerned." Andrei Kostitsyn scored the loan goal for the Canadiens in the loss. As for the Wild,Mikko Koivu, Robbie Earl and Cal Clutterbuck all scored in the 3-1 win.

"We were pretty good defensively and our goalie made the saves when he had to, and that was the key tonight," Koivu said. "Over the last two periods, he was great for us and that made the difference." Canadiens coach Jacques Martin was happy with the way Montreal played last night. "I'm encouraged with how we played, and also that Mara was able to play," Martin said. "We have other players who should be coming back soon, and that should help."
