Kristian Huselius and Derick Brassard scored the only goals in the shootout to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-3 win on home ice tonight night and ended Montreal's 3 game win streak. In the shootout Huselius scored on Canadiens goaltender Jaroslav Halak he decked than shot it under the right pad of Halak.
"Yeah, I knew which move I wanted to do," Brassard said. "When I got the puck, I was going to make another move, then I said, 'No, no, keep with the same move."
Mason improved to 2-0 in his NHL career since being called up November 4th as reaplacement for injured goalie Pascal Leclaire. Mason stopped 34 shots against the Canadiens tonight, who came in with one of the best offences and best records in the NHL.
Mason started in 2 games this season and he won both starts.
"It's definitely pretty exciting," he said. "Two wins in two games I can't complain about that. It's a lot of fun playing in shootouts, especially when you come out on the winning end," he said. "Fortunately for us we scored on two great shots. For a goaltender, when your team is up 2-0, it definitely gives you confidence to make that last save."
The Habs next game will be against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday November 8th 2008.
