Habs At Islanders:VAKLENTENKO HAB PLAYER NO-MORE

Montreals draft pick Pavel Valentenko has signed a three-year deal with Dynamo Moscow of the KHL league.Valentenko was not happey that the Canadiens had assigned him to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL league.

"Valentenko has been supporting his family since he was 15, and took a pay cut to pursue his NHL dream when he signed with Montreal before the 2007-08 season."Hedges said.

"His goal was to play in the NHL, but financially, playing in the AHL wasn't cutting it," said Hedges. "He was very upset at doing this.

"He came over here to make the NHL. He didn't just run home. He had to do it. He knows he shouldn't have done what he did contractually, but he had to. It's not a Radulov situation."

The Islanders will look to snap a 5 game windless streak with a win tonight but really is it possible just look at who won more games from this match-up last season. The Canadiens were 4-0-0 against the Islanders last season.

The Islanders have been playing without there number 1 goalie Rick DiPietro (who has a lower-body injury), and have allowed 16 goals in their last four games. New York lost 3-2 in overtime against Philadelphia on Thursday night.

Islanders coach Scott Gordon was not upset by the loss.

"I told our guys that it was just like a tie," Gordon said. "The secondary point would have just been a bonus. It is more about the 60-minute body of work that we put together. Tonight, our guys played a good hockey game."

Gorden is yet to realize that teams miss the Playoffs by a point.
