Last night in Montreal, the Canadiens took on the Sabres. Price got the start for the Habs and a surprise move by the Sabres as Enroth got the start over Miller. 4 minutes into the game, Webers onetimer was stopped and Desharnais had 2 wacks at the rebound but it was kept out by Enroth. Late in the first, Desharnais came in on the left side with a 2 on 1 and he played the puck to Cole and he was stopped by Enroth. 4 minutes into the second with the Habs on a powerplay, the Sabres had 5 chances to clear the puck but were unable to do so. That resulted into another chance for Desharnais and he was stopped, but he was knocked down onto Enroth. Then the Sabres cleared the puck right to Subban at the point and he played the puck to Cole ( on the right) and he one-timed a shot past Enroth to give the Habs a 1-0 Lead.
2 minutes later, Darche had a breakaway and he was stopped by Enroth. Then with 5 minutes to go in the second, Desharnais pass went off a skate and Pacioretty took a shot and scored to make it 2-0. Just under a minute into the third, Roy centred the puck to to Pominville and he one-timed a shot past Price to cut the lead in half. Then with 8 minutes to go, Vanek played the puck to Roy in the slot and he took a wrist shot and scored to tie the game at 2-2. So for the third straight game, the Habs are going to overtime. Overtime would solve nothing so this game would go to a shootout. Plekanec was up first, and he was stopped. Vanek was up for the Sabres, and he came in and scored on a wrist shot. Pacriottey was looking to tie the game and he did by scoring on a wrist shot. Boyes was next and deked out Price and scored to give Buffalo a 2-1 lead. So Gionta had to score to keep this game going and he was stopped. The Sabres win 3-2.
In the loss, Price made 30 saves. In the win, Enroth made 25 saves."We got away from our game there in the third period," said Pacioretty, who has four goals in five games. "It doesn't matter that we were winning 2-0, we've got to play the game that made us successful. We got away from that. " Enroth talked after the game about the shootout."It makes my job easier when you have Vanek and Boyes and guys like that as the shooters," said Enroth. "They're pretty much 100 percent." The Habs played well through 2 periods and then went downhill. As they blew a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 in a shootout. The Habs next game will be Wednesday night against Carolina on TSN-HD and RDS-HD.
