Last night in Ottawa, the Canadiens took on the Senators in search for their first Pre-Season win. Late in the first, there was a scramble in front of the Habs net and Price dove to poke the puck out but missed and Smith would take advantage by giving the Sens a 1-0 lead. Just a minute later, the Senators came in on a 2 on 1 and Spezza played the puck to Smith who scored to make it 2-0 after one. Half way through the second Carey Price (who made 15 saves) was replaced by Nathan Lawsen.
In the second, with the score 3-0 Ottawa, the Habs went on the powerplay with 4 minutes to go in the second. Gomez played the puck from the left side to Pacioretty and he one-timed the shot past Anderson to cut the lead to 3-1. Goaltender Nathan Lawsen had the puck for the Habs and he caught the Sens on a bad line change as he played the puck to Pacioretty who had a breakaway and he scored to cut the lead to 1. Then late in the third, there was a scramble in front of the Senators net and Gomez who find the puck and put it home to tie the game at 3-3. So this game would go to a shootout.
Pacioretty was first for Montreal and he took a wrist shot and it beat Anderson to make it 1-0 Habs. With the score tied at 1-1 in the shootout, Eric Cole had a chance to win the game and he did with another wrist shot that beat Anderson. So the Habs picked up their first win of the Pre-Season with the final score of 4-3."We showed some desire, we battled and it was nice to be able to tie it in the last minute and win it in the shootout," Martin said. The Habs next game will be tonight in Montreal against the Senators on RDS-HD at 7:00pm E.t.
