NSH: D. Legwand (03:31 - 2nd)
Last night in Nashville, The Canucks had a second crack at ending the series against the Predators. They prepared for this game like it was a game 7. Would it make a difference? Just 1 minute in, with the Predators on the powerplay, Weber's shot was stopped and Legwand missed a wide open net. It could have been 1-0. 6 Minutes later, Kesler played the puck to Raymond and he went to the backhand on Rinne and scored to make it 1-0 Canucks. A few minutes later, the Cancuks went on the powerplay. Henrik Sedin played the puck to Kesler and his shot was stopped by Rinne but Daniel Sedin put the puck in the net on the rebound to make it 2-0 Canucks.
4 minutes into tyhe second, Legwand shot the puck at Luongo from a bad angle and it slipped through the pads and went into the net to cut the lead to 1 goal. So the score was 2-1 after 2 periods of play. With under 3 minutes to play, Kesler came into the Preds zone and fooled Rinne with a nice move but he lost control of the puck. Then with just over a minute to go, the Predators net is empty and Burrows took a shot from centre ice and he missed the net. The Preadtors still had a chance. With 8 seconds to go, Weber's one timer was stopped by Luongo to seal the win for Vancouver as they advance to the Conference Final for the first time since 1994 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
"We took it to them rather than sitting back," Kesler said. "That was the theme going into the third. We didn't want to sit back and hope -- we wanted to take it to them, get shots on net, throw everything we had at them, empty the tanks. We did it and that was our best period of the series." The Canucks will face either the San Jose Sharks or the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference final. In that series, the Sharks went up 3-0 and are now leading the series 3-2. Game 6 of that Series is tonight at 7:30 Pm E.t on TSN and RDS.
