Final
Last night in Montreal, the Habs were looking to get back on track after losing 5-2 to the Penguins and they did just that with there speed. In the first period with the Habs down 1-0 (goal by Boyle), the Canadiens just took complete control with chance after chance, save after save. But it would lead to a penalty. So with the Habs on the powerplay, Roman Hamirlik slapped it home past Lundquist to tie the game.
Then with the Habs on another powerplay just a few minutes after the gaol, the Habs would strike again with a pass from Wisineski to Subban and to Plekanec at the side of the net who would tap in his 14th of the year. The Habs got there second powerplay goal of the game. Prior to this game the Habs just had 1 powerplay in there last 4 games. On a B-Side note, with that goal by Plekanec, he has 13 goals on home ice and just 1 on the road.
The Canadiens just wouldn``t stop in that first period as they would add one more goal which was from Kostitsyn to make it 3-1. But in the second things would start to get out of hand. On one play Pouliot was pushed into Lundquist and Lundquist just went mad. As he jumped onto Pouliot and started throwing punches. Surprising enough, the goaltender did not get a penalty. So theres no score in the second. But in the third, the Rangers woke up as they cut the lead to 1 goal with a goal from Zuccarello. The Rangers were shooting from everywhere but they couldn`t beat Price or the post as they would lose 3-2.
"I felt he didn't try to stop," said Lundqvist about the play when Pouliot ran into him. "But the energy in this building makes you want to jump guys sometimes. It's hard to stay calm.Seriously, it happens. During the season you always have people run into you, but as long as they try to stop, nothing happens."
