CANADIENS BLOW OUT SENS 7-1
(27-17-4) Montreal Canadiens 7-1 Ottawa Senators (17-25-7)
Final
Last night in Ottawa, it was a embarrassing night for the Senators as they lost 7-1.It started early in the first period when Pouliot had a breakaway and roofed it over top of Mike Brodeur to make it 1-0. Shortly after that Plekanec would score from the slot to make it 2-0. Kelly would score for the Sens to cut the lead to 1 after one. But in the second the Habs would take the game by storm. As Brian Gionta reiecevd a centering pass and he snaped it past Brodeur to make it 3-1. As the Habs went on the Powerplay and Paciorety would score to make it 4-1.That's it for Brodeur (who gave up 4 goals on 15 shots) as Elliot would come in to replace him. But it wouldn't do any better. Then Plekanec would score his second of the game to make it 5-1 after 2 periods.
In the third, the Canadiens would add 2 more goals from Kostitsyn and Subban as they would take the win. 7-1 is your final."I can't explain it," said Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson. "We're not making good decisions with (the puck) and part of it because we don't want to make mistakes. We try to make plays we normally wouldn't and instead of just making the open play we're complicating things and it's costing us."In relief for the Senators in the loss, Elliot made 17 saves on 20 shots. In the win, Carey Price made 33 saves."You could see when they scored their goal that they were working to get back into the game," Pouliot said."
"They weren't playing bad but when we got those two quick goals in the second it just knocked them down. After that we just took control of the game and did our job. Everyone contributed to this win." The Habs next game will be tonight against Saku Koivu and the Ducks.
