CANADIENS PLAY HARD AND GET THE 3-1 WIN OVER THE DEVILS
Last night in New Jersey, the Canadiens played there first game without Laraque on the team and beat the Devils by the score of 3-1. This was the first time that Martin Brodeur lost to the Canadiens since March 11th 2008." Well, they played a good game," Brodeur said (who stopped 29 shots of 32). " We didn't come out and play the way we wanted and that's why we lost." Mathieu Darche gave Montreal the winning goal( his first as a Canadien) on a tipped shot from Brian Gionta. Benoit Pouliot (11th) and Mike Cammalleri (24th) also scored for Montreal in the victory."It's great to win a game, especially against the Devils," Halak said (who stopped 31 of 32 shots). "We need two points to get back into playoff position. We did a great job after they scored the first goal. We didn't give up, and stuck to the game plan."
Zach Parise scored the loan goal for the Devils in the loss."I'm not sure we tested Halak too much," Parise said about Halak. "He made some good saves, but I still think we could have made it a little harder for him." With the win the Canadiens are now 1 point out a playoff spot and will be looking to get back into 8th place with a win against the Rangers tonight. But inorder for that to happen they will need the Devils to beat the Islanders.
