After winning back to back games, the New Jersey Devils were looking to rain on the Kings parade again and force a Game 7. 10 minutes into Game 6, Stoll gave Gionta a check from behind, no call by the refs. Then the Devils dumped the puck in behind the Kings net, Scudari was skating back to get it and he was driven hard into the boards by Bernier and that was a 5 minute penalty and a game misconduct. On the powerplay, Doughts shot from the right circle was tipped in by Brown to make it 1-0 Kings. 1 minute later, Browns shot from the slot was deflected in by Carter to make it 2-0. 3 minutes later the Kings were still on the powerplay and Kings shot from the sideboards was stopped but Lewis was there to put home tthe rebound to make it 3-0.
On the 5 minute penalty, the Kings scored 3 goals and were looking good. The shots in the first were 13-8 nKings. 2 minutes into the second, Carters shot from the slot beat Brodeur to make it 4-0. Henrique would add a late period goal to cut the lead to 3. The shots were 8-6 LA in the second. Late in the third, Lewis scored an empty net goal to make it 5-1. 15 seconds later, Greene would score to make it 6-1.That would be the final, as the Kings win their first Stanley Cup in Franchise History. "It's something you can't really explain," said Brown about winning the Cup."It's one of those things where you don't know what it's like until you do it. You're sitting here asking me questions and I don't have an answer for you."In the loss, Brodeur made 19saves. In the win, Quick made 17 saves and was named the Conn Smyth Winner for being best player for the Kings in the 2012 Playoffs.
"As much as you keep pushing it out of your mind it'll creep back in," Quick said. "Especially you get that four-goal lead and it's hard for it not to creep into your head a little bit. But you keep reminding yourself how dangerous of a team they are, and the second you become relaxed and get your mind off what you're supposed to be doing that's when they'll take advantage of you." Throughout the Playoffs, the Kings knocked off the first place Canucks in 5, the second place Blues in 5, the third place Coyotes in 5 and now the sixth placed and Eastern Champs, Devils in 6."It's pretty awesome obviously when you have a three- or four-goal lead with five minutes left and you know what these guys are capable of doing, then you start seeing it on the bench," said Kings coach Darryl Sutter. "It's the feeling ... seeing them so happy and the work that you go through. You know the first thing you think about as the coach? These guys are all young enough the've got to try it again."
