HABS DRAFT GALCHENYUK & 6 OTHER PLAYERS
Over the course of the last 2 days, Mar Bergivan has been a busy man. The Habs had the 3rd pick in the draft and they decided to draft what they despiretly needed, a big center in Akex Galchenyuk (who recently suffered a knee injury)."I knew what kind of skill I have, what kind of player I am," said Galchenyuk. "I'm just going to keep working hard. I played a couple of games at the end of the year and showed what I am capable of doing, I went to the combine and showed them my knee is no concern and there are going to be no issues." Galchenyuk went on to say that he will be taking French lessions in a couple of days. The other 6 picks for the Habs in the draft were, Collberg (2nd round), Thrower (2nd round), Bozen (3rd round), Vail (4th round), Hudon (5th round) and Nystrom (6th round).

Last night in Las Vagas, it was the 2012 NHL awards ceremony and Max Pacioretty of the Montreal Canadiens was awarded the Bill Masterton Trophy. The fans and Players all wondered if he would ever play again...In the 2011-12 season Pacioretty returned and played 79 games and had 33 goals and 32 assists. Now just this past night he wins the Bill Masterton Trophy. Whats next for Pacioretty? We will find out in the 2012-2013 NHL season.

After winning back to back games, the New Jersey Devils were looking to rain on the Kings parade again and force a Game 7. 10 minutes into Game 6, Stoll gave Gionta a check from behind, no call by the refs. Then the Devils dumped the puck in behind the Kings net, Scudari was skating back to get it and he was driven hard into the boards by Bernier and that was a 5 minute penalty and a game misconduct. On the powerplay, Doughts shot from the right circle was tipped in by Brown to make it 1-0 Kings. 1 minute later, Browns shot from the slot was deflected in by Carter to make it 2-0. 3 minutes later the Kings were still on the powerplay and Kings shot from the sideboards was stopped but Lewis was there to put home tthe rebound to make it 3-0.
On the 5 minute penalty, the Kings scored 3 goals and were looking good. The shots in the first were 13-8 nKings. 2 minutes into the second, Carters shot from the slot beat Brodeur to make it 4-0. Henrique would add a late period goal to cut the lead to 3. The shots were 8-6 LA in the second. Late in the third, Lewis scored an empty net goal to make it 5-1. 15 seconds later, Greene would score to make it 6-1.That would be the final, as the Kings win their first Stanley Cup in Franchise History. "It's something you can't really explain," said Brown about winning the Cup."It's one of those things where you don't know what it's like until you do it. You're sitting here asking me questions and I don't have an answer for you."In the loss, Brodeur made 19saves. In the win, Quick made 17 saves and was named the Conn Smyth Winner for being best player for the Kings in the 2012 Playoffs.
"As much as you keep pushing it out of your mind it'll creep back in," Quick said. "Especially you get that four-goal lead and it's hard for it not to creep into your head a little bit. But you keep reminding yourself how dangerous of a team they are, and the second you become relaxed and get your mind off what you're supposed to be doing that's when they'll take advantage of you." Throughout the Playoffs, the Kings knocked off the first place Canucks in 5, the second place Blues in 5, the third place Coyotes in 5 and now the sixth placed and Eastern Champs, Devils in 6."It's pretty awesome obviously when you have a three- or four-goal lead with five minutes left and you know what these guys are capable of doing, then you start seeing it on the bench," said Kings coach Darryl Sutter. "It's the feeling ... seeing them so happy and the work that you go through. You know the first thing you think about as the coach? These guys are all young enough the've got to try it again."

Last night in New Jersey, the Devils were looking to stay off elimination for the second straight game. 12 minutes in, Quick came out of his net to play the puck and he played it behind his own net. Parise received the puck and put it in between the five hole of a sprawling Quick to make it 1-0 Devils. After the first period the shots were 7-4 LA but Brodeur was keeping the Devils in the game. 3 minutes into the second, former Leaf Justin Williams fires a shot from the slot and scores to tie the game. At the half way point of the second, Salvadors shot from the point beat Quick to give the Devils a 2-1 lead.
The shots in the second were 12-10 Devils. In the third the shots were 9-3 LA, but Brodeur stood tall and lead the Devils to a 2-1 win. In the win, Brodeur made 25 saves. In the loss, Quick made 17 saves. The Devils are now down in the series 3-2 and have forced a Game 6 against LA. No team in the 2012 Playoffs have taken the Kings to 6 games before this series. Not only that, the Devils are looking to be the first team since the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs to come back down 3-0 in a Stanley Cup Final series and win the Cup.It's a difficult thing to get yourself ready for games like that,'' Brodeur said.
''Now it's been two (must-win) in a row. It takes a lot out of you but it is worth it. I think that's what the guys have been concentrating on all day, leaving nothing out there. Now we are going to LA again to try to ruin the party again. They are so close to winning the Stanley Cup that I am sure it is getting to them a little bit, having all these chances and not being able to capitalize a little bit. We're looking just to stay alive.'' Game 6 will be Monday night in Los Angeles.

Earlier this afternoon in Toronto, it was Game 4 of the Calder Cup Final between the Toronto Marlies and the Norfolk Admirals. The Admirals had a 3-0 series lead going into the game and were looking to capture their first Calder Trophy in Franchise History. 6 minutes in, Panik scored to make it 1-0 Admirals. Late in the first with the Marlies on a 5 on 3 powerplay, Calborne played the puck over to Zigomanis at the side of the net and he scored to tie the game. 4 minutes into the second, Kostka scored to regain the lead for the Admirals. Late in the second, Johnson scored on a shot from the point to make it 3-1.
44 seconds into the third, Kostka would make it 4-1.Then with 10 minutes left to play, the Marlies were on a powerplay and they decided to pull their goalie which lead to a empty net goal by Johnson to put the game out of reach. That was the first time in Pro Hockey history that a team pulled a goalie with 10 minutes to play.Labrie would add another goal to make it 6-1 as the Norfolk Admirals win their first Calder Cup in Franchise history. In the win, Tokarski made 31 saves. In the loss, Scrivens made 13 saves. So this will end the AHL'S Western Conference Champions, Toronto Marlies Cup run as they got swept in the Finals. So the new 2012 AHL champions are the Norfolk Admirals.

DEVILS KEEP THEIR SEASON ALIVE WITH A 3-1 WIN

Earlier tonight in LA, the Kings had a chance to be the first team since the Anaheim Ducks in 2007 to win the Stanley Cup on home ice. There was no score in the first and the shots were 8-7 New Jersey. In the first period LA hit two goal posts. In the Second, there was still no score and the shots were 7-3 LA. 8 minutes into the third, Elias cut his way to the net and bumped into Quick as Salvador fired a shot from the point which was denied, but Elias put home the rebound to make it 1-0 Devils. Quick was not happy that the Refs didn't call a penalty on Elias and he let the refs know it. 55 seconds later, Clarkson hit Brown into the boards and it was a clean hit but the refs decided to call it boarding.
In other words, it was a make up call for the non-call that resulted in the Devils lead. 2 seconds into the powerplay, Richards played the puck over to Doughty and he fired a one-timer home to tie the game. 6 and a half minutes later, Clarkson played the puck to Henrique and he fired a shot over the blocker of Quick to give the Devils the lead. Kovalchuk would add an empty net goal as the Devils stay off elimination with a 3-1 win. In the win, Brodeur made 18 saves. In the loss, Quick made 18 saves as well. In this game, the Devils were the better team as they were more hungrier and played to win.
As for the Kings, it looked like they expected an easier game as they did what they don't usually do and that sit back and wait for opportunities.I think the series will end next game.Game 5 will be in New Jersey on Saturday night at 8:08pm E.t and 5:08pm P.t on CBC,NBC & RDS (French).

BERGIVIN NAMES MICHEL THERRIEN HEAD COACH OF THE CANADIENS
This afternoon in Montreal, Marc Bergivin names Michel Therrien Head Coach of the Montreal Canadiens for a second time. Therrien parted ways with the Canadiens on Januray 17th 2003, but now he`s back.“Things went quickly for me when I was 38. I started my career as a young coach, I coached in the juniors, then I coached in the AHL and then all of a sudden I found myself behind the bench in the NHL,” explained Therrien. “But I did it and I’m proud I did it. I coached with the passion, intensity and knowledge that I had at that time. I now have a lot more experience, I’m much more ready than I was before, and I can’t wait to face this challenge.” Therrien coaches the Habs from 2000-2003 and lead Montreal to miss the Palyoffs in 2001 and he lead Montreal past the first round in 2002 before getting fired in 2003.
In the 05-06 season, Therrien was named the coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins and in that year his team missed the playoffs. The following season he led the Penguins to Playoffs but they didn`t make it far as they fell in round 1. During the 2008 Playoffs the tied would change as he lead Pittsburgh to the Stanley Cup Final against the Detroit Red Wings. The Penguins would lose in 6 games. In the 08-09 season, Therrien coached for 57 games before being fired. This result leads us to today, when Michel Therrien will be back behind the bench as a coach of the Montreal Canadiens.“ I look at the fact that I coached here before as being a big advantage for me. I know exactly what to expect,”Said Therrien.
“Concerning the team, my intention is to bring back the intensity, the pride and the discipline. Concerning our fans, I want to make sure that every time they come to the Bell Centre, they’ll be able to cheer for a team that’s working their hardest.”

Last night in Los Angeles, it was another big Stanley Cup Final game for the Devils (as they were down 0-2 in the series and tried to avoid going down 0-3). Before the game, since it was the first Stanley Cup Final game in LA since 1993, Wayne Gretzky did the centennial puck drop between the two captains (Brown & Parise). Then it was time to play Hockey. There was no score in the first and the shots were 7-6 Devils. 5 minutes into the Second, King fired a shot from the slot and he was stopped, but he kept whacking a way at it and Brodeur fell as Martinez put home the rebound to make it 1-0 LA. 10 minutes later, Brown came in on a 2 on 1 and played the puck to Kopitar and he deflected a shot past Brodeur to make it 2-0.
The shots in the second were 9-9. 4 minutes into the third, with La on a powerplay, Richards centred the puck to Penner, he was stopped but Carter was there to put home the rebound to extend the lead. Williams would add another powerplay goal as the Kings take Game 3 by the score of 4-0. The shots in the third were 6-6 and overall were 22-21 New Jersey.'We're almost where we're trying to go, but we haven't won anything yet,'' captain Dustin Brown said. ''We know what we have a chance to do, though. Having an opportunity to win a championship here could get rid of a lot of frustration for a lot of people.'' In the win, Quick who has proven to be the NHLs best goaltender made 22 saves. In the loss, Brodeur made 17 saves.
LA is the first team in NHL history to take 4 consecutive 3-0 series leads in all 4 rounds of the playoffs. If LA wins this series, they will be the first 8th placed team in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup. ''Before the series, we felt like this could happen, but we didn't think it would,'' said defenseman Drew Doughty. ''This was definitely our best game of the series. I thought they took it to us in the first period, but we got a lot better.''The longest Cup run by an 8th seed team before the Kings was in 2010 by the Montreal Canadiens, as the Canadiens made it past the Capitals and the Penguins to advance to the conference Final where they were knocked out by the Flyers. Game 4 will be Wednesday night at 8:08 PM E.t and 5:00 PM P.T on CBC, NBC and RDS (French).

Last night in New Jersey, it was Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. LA was 9-0 on the road going into last nights game. 10 minutes into the first, Doughty took the puck from his own end all the way into the Devils end and fired a shot past Brodeur to make it 1-0 Kings. The shots were 11-6 New Jersey after 1 period. The shots in the second were 9-9. 3 minutes into the third, Zidlickys point shot was tipped in by Carter to tie the game. The shots in the third were 11-3 LA. 13 minutes into overtime, Carter got the puck along the boards and took it to the slot and fired a shot past Brodeur to win the game for the Kings. LA leads the series 2-0."It's a huge one," Carter said of the goal. "It's a big one for the team ... It gets us where we wanted to be coming in here."
In the loss, Brodeur made 30 saves. In the win, Quick made 32 saves. With the win, LA now has a record of 10-0 on the road and are 2 wins away from winning their first Cup in franchise history. This win for LA puts the Devils in a spot where I don't think they can come out of, down 0-2. New Jeersy will not come back in the series unless they can find a way to do the impossible and that is to win 2 games in Los Angeles."It's tough but you can't feel sorry for yourself," said New Jersey coach Peter DeBoer. We did in the right way but came up one goal short." Game 3 will be Monday night at 8:08 pm E.t on CBC, NBC and RDS (French).
