The Canadiens G.M Bob Gainey announced today the signing of defenseman André Benoit to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2009-10 season.Benoit,spent the last two seasons in Europe. Benoit played with Sodertalje SK of the Swedish Elite League in 2008-09. He had 20 points in 54 games (4 goals, 16 assists), serving 34 penalty minutes. This is just the second signing in the Habs offseason.
