Habs Scoreboard
The Habs’ new central scoreboard, the third model since the arena opened its doors in March 1996.It's the largest score board in the NHL.The scoreboard weights 50,000 pounds and standing 25 feet high and 40 feet wide, it won’t be unnoticed on Friday night when the Habs take on the Senators. The Canadiens centennial scoreboard is way wider, and way bigger then the size of the scoreboard recently purchased by the Maple Leafs for the Air Canada Centre.

Markov the hero for the Habs in shootout
Canadiens goalie Cédrick Desjardins stopped 12 of the 13 shots he faced last night in Detroit. Markov Scored the only goal of the shootout to make the Habs win this exhibition game by the score of 3-2. Carle had his head down and he got hit fairly hard.He was carried off the ice on a stretcher 5:25 into the game after a hit by Detroit forward Tomas Kopecky at the Red Wings' blue-line."He was awake when he went to the hospital," said Montreal coach Guy Carbonneau. "We gave him a couple of quick tests and he was fine and he's going back with us.I don't think it was a dirty hit.
Detroit also had a player go to the hospital. Captain Nicklas Lidstrom was hit in the face with a shot and was helped off the ice 3:00 into the third period. He took stitches above his right eye and went to Detroit Medical Center for X-rays."It's above the eye, it touched a bit of his nose and above his head, so they're going to send him over for some tests," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "The injury is nothing to do with his eye, so that's obviously the positive news."
Matt D'Agostini and Tomas Deauregard were the goal scorers for Montreal in regulation. In the shootout the Andrei Markov scored in the shootout.Tomas Holmstrom and Justin Abdelkader scored the goals for Detroit.
You never know this might be the stanley cup Final this year.

On November 20 the Canadiens will be raising number 33 to the rafters.Patric Roy said he was hoping that this would happen.Ever since the game against the Red Wings in 1995 after Roy allowed 10 goals he said he will never play for the habs again.''I think its been long enough for the fans to get over what happened'' Explained Gainy. But the question is have the fans moved on?

Saku Koivu Criticized ? Plus Koivu talks about chances of a cup in Montreal
Last year at the Canadiens golf tournament Koivu got Criticized for being honest.''Last year I said i think we got good potential but I don't think were big contenders for the cup.I think the fans took it the wrong way.''Explained Koivu. This year the fans Criticized him for not showing up at the golf tournament. He didn't even show up at training camp instead he stayed in Finland but Koivu had good reasons.''I talked to Gainy and told him i will be doing all the same drills i would be doing with the team.''Explained Koivu.
Koivu has been the Canadiens captain for a long time. But for the first time in his career, Koivu has a shot at the Stanley Cup and he can't wait to get the season started.'I was questioned a lot when I signed my contract two years ago about why I did it and why I stayed. The reason why I stayed was because I saw the potential that is possible here, and I want to be here if the team wins the Stanley Cup in the next couple of years.'' Koivu Explained.
Koivu will be entering his 10th season as team captain. No captain in Habs history has played through the ups and the downs like koivu has.'' I've seen the ups and the downs when we had a good team, but the latest years weren't a lot of fun.But this season I think were contenders. This is the best Habs team I've seen in a long time.''
Time will tell if this is the Canadiens Stanley Cup Champion team.

DO THE CANADIENS HAVE SPACE FOR' PACIORETTY, MAXWELL?
Going into training camp there was no room for young guns on the Canadiens roster like Max Pacioretty and Ben Maxwell on the Montreal Canadiens. If they want to play for the Canadiens they will have to prove themselves worthy of a spot on the roster."You've got to steal a job from someone," Carbonneau told Max Pacioretty and Ben Maxwell. The 19 skaters and four goaltenders at the rookie camp are there to make themselves familiar with a pro hockey environment.Only 15 players will stick around for the main part of the camp, which starts on Saturday. If the young guns will not make the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL, Montreal's top farm club, they would not be able to make it to the Canadiens.

He has added a few extensions to his team such as Max Pacioretty, Georges Laraque, Alex Tanguay, Robert Lang and Marc Danis. A reporter asked Gainy, "In your opinion has your team gotten tougher over the summer and is your team a contender for the cup?" Gainy simply replied, ''Yes. We have gotten tougher over the summer with the extension our team has gotten this summer. You can't say if we are a contender yet, we have to see how our team plays when the season starts then we can tell you.'' It wont be long until we find out if they are contenders or not.The season is just four weeks away.

CANADIENS ACQUIRE LANG; SUNDIN NO LONGER NEEDED
The Montreal Canadiens have acquired forward Robert Lang from the Chicago Blackhawks, in return for a second-round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. When asked with the extension of Lang does that mean Sundin was no longer in their needed, Canadiens general manager Bob Gainey replied "yes."Gainey said that the discussions with Sundin were not good."At no time did I have any feeling we had Sundin locked up or anyone else did."As for Sundin's plans, Gainey explained that he had no idea when or if the forward would return to the NHL."Sundin didn't give me any indication he was going to make a decision and my hockey department and I were not prepared to wait for a player who may or may not decide to play in November, December or January or February."Gainey explained.''
With Lang the Canadiens get a forward with the skills to shoot, score, play defence, and wrack up points. The 37-year-old played 76 games with the Blackhawks he got 54 points (21 goals, 33 assists), getting a plus-9 rating while serving 50 penalty minutes in the 2007-2008 season."He adds to our depth and experience and to the level of our attack," explained Gainey.Lang was excited about the deal."You never want to get traded or have to move your family, but I think it's going to be a great situation," Lang told the Press. "It's a great hockey town."Lang's best season was in 2001-2002 when he recorded 80 points (32 goals, 48 assists) in 82 games with the Penguins.

Jason Missiaen Top Prospect
With their fourth-round selection, 116th overall, the Canadiens have picked Jason Missiaen, a goaltender from the Peterborough Peter of the OHL. And he's a large goaltender, listed at 6 foot, 8 inches tall, weighing 193 pounds, a native of Chatham, Ont. This pick was the Canadiens tallest draft pick in there history.
Jason Missiaen's story as quoted below:
“I started playing hockey when I was eight years old,” said Missiaen, the tallest player ever to be chosen by the Habs. “But the problem was that my mom insisted that I wear the most protection possible and that’s how I became a goalie.”
Ranked 23rd among North American goalies, Missiaen was nonetheless the 12th goalie to hear his named called at the Scotiabank Place.
“I knew Montreal was interested in me, but I never expected to be picked so soon. This whole experience is hard for me to even put into words.”
The morning of game day I like to keep to myself to avoid distractions. Throughout the day I try to picture myself making saves, always having good positioning and good rebounds. I try to eat the same things at the same times. My pre-game meal consists of spaghetti with meat sauce. If the game is at 7pm I like to eat at 3pm. After my meal I take a short nap 30-45 minutes max.
''When I arrive at the rink I tape two sticks both toe to heal. After that I warm up on the bike and stretch while visualizing myself in game situations. Throughout this time I am not socializing with fellow teammates. While I am getting dressed I put on my left side first then my right. At the end of warm-up I like to leave the ice with 41 seconds left on the clock. During the anthems I like to stand in between my crease and the hash marks while visualizing more game situations. During stoppages of play I always skate to the corner to my left and never to the right. My water bottle is always pointing to the left of the goal.''

Number 33 will be retired
Do you think Patrick Roy's jersey #33 should be retired by Montreal this upcoming season? When you look at the incredible numbers Roy put up in his career - 4 Stanley Cups, 3 Conn Smythe trophies, 551 regular season wins, 151 playoff wins - it is hard to believe that the Habs could refuse to hang Canadiens jersey #33 from the rafters of the Bell Centre. But really think about it he left the Canadiens on the wrong foot.He left because the head coach at the time Trembley did not pull him out of a game when he said he was having a bad game.So just think about this question do you think Patrick Roy's jersey #33 should be retired by Montreal this upcoming season?

Habs may consider playing outdoor game for there100th season
The Canadiens may be considering playing outdoor game at Olympic Stadium as one of their 100th anniversary celebrations. The rumors were that the outdoor game was planed for December 4th 2009.That rumor was wrong according to team spokesman Donald Beauchamp. It will not be Dec. 4," he said."There's no specific date, but it's not that one."Outdoor games have been very popular since the Oilers hosted the Canadiens in 2004.To play at the domed Olympic Stadium, the roof would have to be removed. An OIB spokesman said this game would have to be played when the roof is being redone.

BOB GAINY works on team future
Fans of the Habs cant complain that there hasn't been any good trades this summer.Bob Gainy has been criticized for not making good trades. The past couple of weeks ,we have seen Gainey, in a series of moves that have been helpful for the canadiens as they look to win there 25th stanley cup.For the longest time, many in the media and in fan circles have criticized on the Canadiens lack of toughness. This problem should be resolved by the signing of Georges Laraque.
The signing of Alex Tanguay brought the Canadiens to a top six forward that should bring more offensive power to a second line that struggled at times last year. Watching the Habs at developmental camp this past week also brought a glimpse of the future.Gainy has been gust staying inside the salary cap as they sign alot of young talent like Andrei Kostitsyn Yannick, Weber Max Pacioretty, Ryan O'Byrne, Josh Gorges, Maxim Lapierre, Cédrick Desjardins and Jaroslav Halak.

Saku Koivu has been training hard all summer as he wants to guide his team to a stanley cup victory in the season 2008-2009. This season in my opinonun the Habs should go to the stanley cup final and win the cup.A reporter from TSN asked Guy Carbonneau what life would be like with Mat Sundin on your team. He simply responded that they would be a contender for the cup. Mat Sundin is still undecided about his playing career.

CAREY PRICE lost 25 LBS
Carey Price showed up at the Habs golf tournament 25lbs lighter. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? In my opinion thats a bad thing. Some people might think its good but its not. While it may make him a little smaller in net, and boy did he look big last year, no amount of padding can be added to correct this problem.
