Habs Owner Geoff Molson Delivers a Message to the Fans
Dear Fans,
I would like to thank you all for your comments and support as the Pacioretty family, and our entire organization, deal with this difficult situation. I share your frustration, disappointment and shock. I feel for Max, the team and you, our fans.
Max, on behalf of my family, fans and all who are associated with this great organization, rest assured that we are all behind you and hope for a full recovery.
The Montreal Canadiens is an institution that has played a leadership role in this League and in our community for over 100 years, and you can count on us to continue to do so in the future. The news of the NHL decision yesterday was a hard blow for both the players and fans of the Montreal Canadiens. It was one which shook the faith that we, as a community, have in this sport that we hold in such high regard.
The Montreal Canadiens organization does not agree with the decision taken yesterday by the National Hockey League. We can assure you that we have made our position clear to Commissioner Gary Bettman, and that he has agreed to make this issue a priority at the next General Manager's meeting, which will be held in Florida on March 14-16. Pierre Gauthier, our General Manager, will be present at this meeting and has already expressed his wish to carry out, clearly, our message to his 29 counterparts and to the League.
Our organization believes that the players' safety in hockey has become a major concern, and that this situation has reached a point of urgency. At risk are some of the greatest professional athletes in the world, our fan base and the health of our sport at all levels. Players' safety in hockey must become the ultimate priority and the situation must be addressed immediately. As a proud father of three hockey players, I want to help create a healthy and safe experience for them, and I certainly never want any family to go through what the Pacioretty's are experiencing at this moment.
We understand and appreciate hockey being a physical sport, but we do not accept any violent behavior that will put the players' health and safety at risk. On this specific issue, I am asking for the support of the 29 other NHL owners, to address urgently this safety issue. And I am willing to play a leadership role in coordinating this group effort.
You are the best fans in the league, and I am proud to have you behind us. Both the team and Max need your support now more than ever. A solid playoff run is just around the corner and we are counting on you to carry us deep into the spring!

POLICE OPEN A INVESTIGATION
Today in Montreal, the Montreal Police force have opened a investigation on Chara's hit on Pacioretty that sent Pacioretty to the Hospital on Tuesday night."The police investigation will be held. Like all police investigations, evidence will be gathered and an investigation report will be submitted (to the DCPP)," said spokeswoman Martine Berube."(The DCPP) will then evaluate to see whether there's grounds for prosecution." Berube also said that depending on the charges are laid they can not say what possible charges for Chara's hit would be. This case was mainley opened up, due to Pacioretty telling Bob Mackenzie (which was later reported on TSN) that Chara hit him on purpose. Just hours after the police heard that, they decided to open an investigation.

PACIORETTY INJURY UPDATE
Last night in Montreal, as you all know by now, Pacioretty was hit in between the benches by Chara in last night's game against the Bruins. So tonight the Habs gave us a update.“Max Pacioretty has a severe concussion, as well as a fracture of the fourth cervical vertebrae, but it's not displaced,” explained Martin. “Max will remain at the hospital for further observation. There will be no other prognosis for the time being, but he will obviously be out indefinitely. The most important thing for our organization right now is Max’s recovery. We will continue following recommendations from the doctors and of course, Max and his immediate family would appreciate privacy in this matter.”
After the game, Chara said he didn't mean to injure Pacioretty and might be right but only he know. But watch the replay again. He gave Pacioretty an extra push which lead him to go into the glass. I think the NHL should have gave him a suspension. Especially since there is a history between these 2 players. Remember the Last time these teams played in Montreal? Pacioretty scored the Game winning goal in overtime and gave Chara a little tap to the back which caused a scrum. So overall I think Chara should have got suspended.

Last night in Montreal, the Canadiens were seeking there 5th straight win. They were playing a defensive style that didn't let the Bruins get a chance to set up in the Habs zone. Early on in the game, Boychuk tried to take out Subban's knee. So Ryan White stepped in and started a fight. The fight would be a draw and White would get a instigating penalty. But the Bruins didn't capitalize on the powerplay. Then with a 11:39 to play in period one. Moen's shot was stopped by Rask but Eller was there to put home the rebound to make it 1-0. Then with 2 minutes to play, Moen would take the puck away from Ryder and Moen would play the puck right to Eller alone in front and Eller would score his second of the game and 7th on the season.
So it's 2-0 after one. 7 minutes into the second, with the Habs on the powerplay. Gionta came skating in the Boston zone and took a shot that was stopped but seemed to be rolling in the net, but Chara cleared it off the line, but it went right off of his goalie and into the net to make it 3-0. Then with the Bruins on the powerplay, Lucic played the puck to Thorton in the slot and he was stopped by Carey Price. Then 3 minutes after that with the Habs on the powerplay, Cammalleri passed the puck to Wisinewski and he slapped it past Rask to make it 4-0. That was Cammalleri's 200th career assist. Then with 15.4 seconds to go in the period, Max Pacioretty was pushed into the corner of the glass in between the benches by Chara and Pacioretty was knocked out unconscious.
There was no need for a hit like that, the puck was already dumped in and I know he just wanted to finish his check but it was a delayed hit and it should have never happened. If you watch the replay closly, you will see that extra push of the left arm of Chara that lead Pacioretty into the side of the glass. The league will review that play. Chara had a 5 minute major penalty and a game misconduct. But some good news is that, Pacioretty was moving at the hospital and is awake. So the Habs would go onto win this game though by the score of 4-1 as this was the Habs 5th staright win. This was the first time Montreal has won 5-in-a-row this season. But after the game the big talk was about that hit.
"I was riding him out and unfortunately, I leaned and bumped him a bit and he hit the extension," said Chara. "Obviously it wasn't my intention to push him into the partition.Things happen fast. That's not my style. I play hard, physical, but I never try to hurt someone. I hope he's OK." Here's what the Habs head coach had to say about it:"It's serious when you see an injury like that," said Montreal coach Jacques Martin. "The league has to deal with those issues.It's not the first time. It seems to be getting worse and worse. It was a dangerous hit."

CAREY PRICE EARNS THIRD STAR OF THE WEEK
Today in Montreal, the Canadiens announced that Carey Price has earned the NHL third star of the week. This week, Price is coming off of 3 wins (1 shutout) in the Habs past 4 wins in this win steak. Price has made 114 saves on his last 117 shots. Price has a .974 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average in the past week. Currently in the NHL, Price leads in wins this season (31 wins).
