HABS BEAT UP ON THE CANES 7-2 IS YOUR FINAL
(8-9-0) Carolina Hurricanes 2-7 Montreal Canadiens (11-5-1)
Final
Tonight in Montreal, it was a good night for the Habs as they scored tunes of goals as they won this game against the Hurricanes 7-2 the Final. It all started back in the first period, when Plekanec scored on a back hand to beat Ward. That's Plekanec's 6th of the season. Then with 2 minutes to go in the first Plekanec centred the puck right to Cammalleri who would put it home to make it 2-0 on his 4th on the year.
Then in the second with the Canes on the powerplay, Babchuk scored to cut the lead to one. They would go onto tie the game with a goal from former Hab Tom Kostopoulos. But the Habs would get it back with a goal from Brian Gionta on a simple wrist shot that beat Ward to give Montreal a 3-2 lead. Then with 5 minutes to play in the second Lapierre came in on a breakaway and did a spin a Rama and fired it past Ward again to make it 4-2. Then on the powerplay, Pouliot fired it top shelf to make it 5-2.
That was it for Ward as he was replaced by Peters. But it wouldn't stop Montreal.With the score still 5-2, the Hurricanes had a great chance to make it 5-3 but Price dove across the crease and made a great glove save. That's the highlight of the night. Th fans gave him a standing ovation for his 28 save performance. As they added 2 more goals from Kostitsyn and Darche as they went onto win it 7-2 is your final.
But it wasn't all good for Montreal as Markov left the game with a knee injury. But besides that Montreal had everything going there way. They had great goaltending from Price, All 4 lines were scoring and they had great defense. They desverd to win. The Habs nexted game will be Tuesday against the team that knocked them out of the post season the Flyers. It will be on TSN-M and RDS.

ALL STAR NEW FORMAT 2011
The NHL announced that the 2011 All star game will have a new format. The new format is the conference vs. conference format will be replaced by a player draft. The captains of the 2 teams will chose there teams.“There is no doubt that the competitive juices will rise when the players themselves select the line-ups for their All-Star teams as well as deciding who will go head-to-head in the skills challenges,” said Mike Ouellet, NHLPA Chief of Business Affairs. “The league and the NHLPA are looking forward to the excitement this new format will create for the fans, and the players, at the NHL All-Star Weekend in Carolina.”

GIONTA AND SUBBAN SCORE ON THE POWERPLAY TO LEAD THE HABS TO A WIN
(10-5-1) Montreal Canadiens 3-1 Boston Bruins (8-4-1)

Last night in Boston, it was an original 6 rivalry between the Bruins and the Canadiens. Last season Montreal won 5 of 6 games vs Boston they were looking to continue that last night.In the first period, Montreal went on a powerplay which has only got 3 goals this season (the worst in the NHL). They were looking to turn it around. They did with a one timer by Subban that found it's way past Rask to make it 1-0 on his first NHL regular season goal of his career (he had 1 playoff goal last season). The Bruins would respond with a goal from Chara from the point that's his 4th of the year. Now lets jump to the third, Montreal was on a powerplay. Cammalleri skated in from the top on the goalies left circle and faked a shot and passed it right to Gionta who one timed it into the net to make it 2-1.
That was the first time in 35 games that Montreal has scored 2 powerplay goals in one game. The last time was Febuary 13th 2010 against the Flyers in a 6-2 loss. But there was no losing here at least not for the Canadiens. Who would add one more goal from Scott Gomez on a rebound. That's Gomez's first point in 12 games and first goal in 14 games and it came in his 800th NHL game to make it 3-1. That would be your final as the Habs continue to win hockey games."Beating two top teams like Vancouver and Boston -- especially Boston -- is great," said Price. "They were only two (points) behind us in the standings and had some games in hand, and we didn't want to be tied with them."
In the win, Carey Price made 34 saves on 35 shots. As for the Bruins netminder, Rask made 38 saves on 41 shots. "We ran out of legs, and progressively our game got worse and made every part of our game look bad," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "When you have a fresh team waiting for you at home, and a divisional game, it's tough." The Habs next game will be Saturday against the Hurricanes on CBC-M and RDS-HD at 7:08pm E.t is the puck drop.

HABS TRADE O'BYRNE TO COLORADO
Today in Montreal, Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier traded defenseman Ryan O'Byne to the Colorado Avalanche for prospect Michael Bournival.“It’s going to be tough to leave these guys. I know a lot of these guys really well and developed some close friendships,” explained O’Byrne. “Unfortunately that’s the business; that’s hockey. One second you’re having breakfast with them and laughing with the guys and the next second, you’re booking flights to Columbus.” O'Byne only played 3 games this season and he had no points and no blocked shots.
The Habs in my opinion got ride of O'Byne because there is no room for him on the team. If Markov was not playing that O'Byne would be. Montreal doesn't want to send O'Byne down to the AHL because they feel that he's earned his place in the NHL. That's why he got traded. But it is what it is.“Getting drafted by the Montreal Canadiens is something I’ll always remember. Being part of the 100th anniversary is something I’ll always remember,” O'Byne said. “But I think the number one memory for me is having my No. 3 retired in that ceremony and being the last guy to wear the No. 3 is something I’ll never forget. I mean, it wasn’t retired for me, but that’s something that will stick with you.”

CAREY PRICE SHUTS DOWN THE CANUCKS
(8-4-2) Vancouver Canucks 0-2 Montreal Canadiens (9-5-1)

Last night in Montreal, Carey Price outplayed Luongo as Price made 34 saves for his second shuttout of the year (which ended the Canucks 6 game win streak).Andrei Markov opened the scoring on a rebound and Hamirlik added a powerplay goal in the third to make it 2-0. But what happend to the Canucks on this night? They just couldn't score."It's always disappointing to lose, that's first and foremost," Luongo said. "It's the first game of our road trip and we really wanted to get off to a good start so it's going to be important to regroup (Wednesday), have a good practice and come ready to play against the Senators."In the lose, Luongo played well as he made 27 saves on 29 shots.
It wasn't Luongo's falt that they lost it was Carey Price. So far this season, Price Silenced the critics by being able to win games for Montreal. Don Cherry said on Coaches Corner "that it was a mistake to get rid of Halak because Price can't play in Montreal. But if he was on a different team he would do better." But it seems to me Price can do well in Montreal. That's what he has proven with this great record of 8 wins 5 losses and 1 ot loss, with a Save Percentage of .918 and a goals against average of 2.28 inculding 2 shutouts.
Overall Price played great so far. In the final minute of the game, Price had the puck on his stick and went for the empty net but it didn't go in. But how would that have been if it went in?"That would be pretty cool," Price said. "But nowadays the pressure is up the middle. You'd need to get a lot of wood on it." The Habs next game will be Thursday against Boston on NESN (us),RDS-HD( Montreal) and TSN-HD(All TSN networks) at 7:00pm E.t.

HABS PLACED BOYD ON WAIVERS
Today in Montreal, Jacques Martin announced that Dustin Boyd has been placed on Waivers.“We’ve currently placed Dustin Boyd on waivers. With no injuries and a full roster, it’s been hard to find a spot for Dustin to fill in and contribute. Right now we’re just going to see what happens but at this moment we have no intention of sending him to Hamilton,” Canadiens’ head-coach Jacques Martin said. Boyd has played 9 games so far this season and has 1 goal.“I’m still trying to fit into the system here and create some form of consistency for myself. I had a good camp at the beginning of the year, but since the regular season started I’ve been out for five games and when I’ve played, the bounces weren’t really going my way,” admitted Boyd
“It seems like the top six is pretty set though, so I’m just looking to stay positive and a find a role to fill where I can offer something to the team.” Boyd is expected to play against the Canucks tomorrow night.

KOVALEV SCORES A PAIR TO LEAD TO AN OTTAWA VICTORY
(7-6-1) Ottawa Senators 3-2 Montreal Canadiens (8-5-1)

Last night it Montreal, It was a great night for the Sens thanks to Kovalev. The Senators were able to stop Montreal from putting on pressure inside the sens zone for a long period of time. That's why the Sens won 3-2. Kovalev scored the opening goal in the first to make it 1-0. Then in the second, the Sens would extend their lead with a goal from Zach Smith to make it 2-0. Then with 2 minutes to go in period 2, Spacek's point shot found it's way past Brian Elliot to cut the lead to 1. But in the third the Sens went on the powerplay, Kovalev Slapped it home past Carey Price to make it 3-1. Montreal wasn't ready to give up. As with 2 minutes to go, Brian Gionta skated in over the blueline and took a simple wrist shot that beat Elliot to cut the lead to 1. But that's as close as they would get as the Senators won this one 3-2 is your final.
"Give credit to our opponents -- they were fresh and worked harder than us," said Montreal coach Jacques Martin. "The last time we played them in Ottawa they had played the night before and we were fresh." In the lose, Carey Price was great once again as he was the 3rd star and he made 27 saves. As for the Sens, Brian Elliot made 21 saves in the win. In the victory, Kovalev got 2 goals and you know what that means? He is now 3 points away from getting point 1,000."It's a great achievement. If you look back at coming into the NHL at 19 and going over 1,000 games and getting to 1,000 points, that's a long journey and I'm definitely proud of myself," Kovalev Said. The Habs next game will be Tuesday night against the Canucks at the Bell Centre.

SABRES LOSE 7TH STRAIGHT HOME GAME DUE TO THE HABS 3RD LINE
(8-4-1) Montreal Canadiens 3-2 Buffalo Sabres (3-9-2)
Final
Last night in Buffalo, the Habs third line put on quite a show. As the Canadiens third line scored all 3 goals foor Montreal in a 3-2 victory over Buffalo. Back in the first period, Buffalo got off to a great start by opening the scoring with a goal from Grier. But the Habs would answer with a centering pass from Darche to Halpern that would end up in the net that's Halpern's 4th of the year. But the Sabres would get it back in the second with a Slap shot from the point that was taken by Leopold that made it 2-1 Buffalo.
But as the great Maurice "Rocket" Richard said never give up. They didn't. As Pouliot recieved a pass from Darche and Pouliot put it in on his backhand to tie the game. Then with 2 minutes to go in the second Pouliot skated in over the blue line and took a slapshot and he scored that was his second of the night and 4th of the year as the Habs would go on to take it 3-2 is your final.
In the lose, Lalime made 29 saves but it wasn't enough to win. As for the winning goalie of this game (Carey Price), he played outstanding as he made 29 saves."He was phenomenal," Halpern said. "His rebound control was excellent, and he smothered the puck when he had to. He's giving us a chance to win every night." With this Sabres lose, they have now lost 7 straight games on home ice. So what's going on to the defending Northeast Divison Champs?
"It's frustrating when you're losing games," Grier said. "You're in it to win, and we all take pride in being professionals. We think we're a good team, but right now we're shooting ourselves in the foot." The Sabres next game is tonight against Toronto at 7pm on CBC-T and CBC-M and the Habs next game is tonight as well against Ottawa on CBC-O.
